Aiming high to achieve what matters most: Connection; Communication and Mutual Respect

Attaining A Rhythm: 8-25-11

Attaining A Rhythm: 8-25-11

By Jill Edelman . 12:08 pm

Another Pop-In: Our son stopped by his sister’s apartment with a friend yesterday. They all had a blast together, the two young men, our daughter, her apartment-mate and some staff. The apartment offers a great social meeting place. Today I will run over at her request to chat about some “social” issues arising from a Facebook contact. Tomorrow, as a family, we will all head to Long Island, weather permitting. A natural rhythm of contact seems to be unfurling as the end of the first month of “independent living” is closing around us.

Vocational Day, Not: Today is supposed to be a volunteer job day. Alas, the senior residence still hasn’t cleared our daughter to work there as a companion (must be checking the FBI files!) and in addition, ABD has not found a vocational staff replacement. O.K. it is true. Finding the right staff person is key. But the seniors, what is up with that?

Holding Our Breath For Irene To Curve: Waiting out a hurricane’s decision to visit or not makes all of us anxious. We are on hold as to weekend plans. Our daughter is already packed for L.I., and our son is on his way out this afternoon. I do get a yucky feeling in the pit of my belly thinking that I may have to tell her “it’s off.”

Come on Irene, bail on this one.

Fingers Crossed, the lady will curve.
